As should be noticed by anyone that pays any attention to me, I’ve been listening to a lot of H2O recently as it speaks to me on a very deep level. The band has helped me reevaluate my life and give me some direction and inspiration. Love that band.
I’ve been listening to Don’t Forget Your Roots a lot this past week, so I figured why not make a playlist of the original tracks for the album for this week’s Spotify Playlist? Unfortunately though, I couldn’t find the Verbal Assault and Warzone tracks in Spotify’s library, so they couldn’t make the cut.
Anyway, even without those last two tracks, I hope you enjoy this look at a lot of different bands that inspired one of my favorite bands, H2O.
As always, featured artists are after the jump! (more…)
I’m a huge believer in not stealing music. If you’re a follower of this blog, or you paid any attention to my previous Post Modern Age blog, you might have noticed this, or at least you noticed my talk of albums that I needed to purchase over the next few months. This entry is a little bit of an update on that idea. I made a vow a few months ago to purchase at least one album during each pay cycle, and thus far I’ve lived up to it.
With that in mind, here is a list of some of the albums I’ve purchased over the past months and my thoughts on those albums. Spoiler alert: I love pretty much all of them, and I still have yet to purchase Florence + The Machine’s Lungs. I have a feeling like that album will elude me for quite some time.
I have been listening to these four albums non-stop for the past week, and I can legitimately say this past week has given me an awakening on who I want to be, and what I want to do in the coming years. This is definitely in part to what I’ve been listening to, and these songs have given me a lot of inspiration and have helped motivate me to keep myself going.
I was gathered amongst some companions earlier, and the topic of comic books and comic book creators came up. One of my favorites, Jack Kirby, was brought up in regards to the Fantastic Four and Dr. Doom, and I mentioned that Jack Kirby’s headstone is one of the few I’d want to visit of a, not necessarily pop culture icon or celebrity but more like a historical figure.
This got me thinking, what headstones would I actually want to make a point of visiting before I am placed in front of one, myself. I thought that this might make an interesting look at who I am and what inspired me the most as a human being. Morbid, I know, but it still seems like a decent idea. (more…)
I’ve been classified as a strange duck plenty of times in my life, and my musical preferences have always been front and certain of my strange moods. As previously discussed, I enjoy a wide variety of music with a strong basis around punk, hip hop, and metal. Those are my primaries, but I absolutely listen to many other things.
I’ve recently been listening to quite a lot of early-mid 1990s punk rock, but that’s not all by any means. Since I’m bored, and wanted to make a post, here’s a Spotify playlist of a lot stuff that I’ve been listening to over the past few weeks. My main sources for most of these are either iTunes or while I’m in the car, with the most notable exception being London Calling by The Clash, which I’ve been listening to on vinyl since I was given the 180 gram edition by my wife for Christmas. Anyway, that’s the story with this.
Give it a listen, I think you might enjoy it if you open your mind a bit.
